Other Details to Note
Please read our additional house rules, cancellation policy and important things to note before booking. If you would like further protection for your trip we recommend travelers insurance. Don’t live in the forest? Spiders, ants, Beatles, frogs, mice & bears are extremely common and you may encounter them during your visit. Please follow the house rules and bear safety to avoid close encounters with bears. We provide pest and cleaning spray in the kitchen pantry. Did you know a spider can create a web in just 30 mins? Although we do our best to keep our home pest & web free, we cannot control if a new web is created between the clean and check in. We have a service dog who stays with us when we visit the property. Although we have an amazing cleaner, please do not book if you are highly allergic to dogs. Please know that although we love dogs we do not allow pets or ESA animals. We will accept ADA approved service dogs. Service dogs may not be left at the property alone & kept off the furniture and beds. Please bring your own dog bedding, and pick up after them outside. Any undisclosed pets will result in an additional fee of $500 per night. Please do not bring any cats to the property as the owner is severely allergic. Please note we are close with our neighbors who know we do not allow animals inside the home so please do not try to sneak any animals onto the property. All ages are welcome at The Sugar Pine Speakeasy, however, we do not have special accommodations or any safety precautions in place specific to infants and young children. Book at your own risk. We provide 3 pillows per guest (2 down and 1 cooling memory foam). They are in hypoallergenic pillow protectors, but if you have allergies please find the memory foam pillows in the closet of each room. The upstairs front bedroom closet holds the extra memory foam pillows and portable fan for the back upstairs bedroom. BEAR BOX: Bear sighting and break ins are common. Please do not leave food out as it will attract bears to the property. Please take out any trash in supplied trash & recycle bags and place outside in the 'bear box' trash bin. Trash pick up is every Wednesday morning BEAR WIRES: There are bears in Lake Tahoe and many in our neighborhood. We have an electric bear wire around the property to avoid break-ins which do happen if they are not left on. You’ll see electric wires at the windows and doors. The voltage is light but If you accidentally touch them while they are on it will shock you. Instructions to turn off the bear wire will be provided in your welcome letter. Please turn ON the bear wires when leaving the property to avoid responsibility for any break-ins. SECURITY CAMERAS: We have motion detected video/audio security cameras on the exterior of the property. They are located on the front & back deck. They are focused on the entryways for security, snow build up and insurance purposes. They do not look inside the home and will not be viewed unless there is unusual activity or an active snow storm. WINTER SNOW SEASON: The West Shore of Lake Tahoe gets a LOT of snow during winter months. 4 wheel drive vehicles and/or chains are required. You will also need to bring your own car shovel and car snow brush to keep your windows clear of snow and ice. We have a driveway plow service that comes every snowfall, of 6 inches or more, to clear the driveway. We also have snow shovelers that will come prior to your arrival and after any heavy snowfall during your stay. Please note that snow workers are very busy during any storms so please be patient as the snow removal services work to clear all roads, driveways & shovel pathways. If you are stuck and need the driveway plowed we will do our best to reach out to the company to push our home up on the list but we cannot make any guarantees. During a storm, snowfall may also continue to accumulate between shoveling service and your arrival. We provide shovels, snow blower (for 2 feet or less) & ice melt for your use. There is no street parking allowed during the winter so please keep an eye out for the driveway plow company and move your vehicles to ensure they can keep the full driveway clear. Due to heavy snow in the area, please don’t expect outdoor furniture and fully clear decks in winter months. Pathway access to the entry, shed and hot tub will be maintained. FIRE SEASON & WEATHER CHANGES: Our home has a built in air purifier to ensure clean air is in the home at all times. We also provide wildfire smoke masks if needed. In the event of bad air quality outside due to fires that are not a direct threat to the neighborhood, our cancellation policy still stands. Please keep this in mind before booking during fire season. We are not responsible for any weather changes/ delays leading up to and during your reservation. In the event of a storm, our cancellation policy stands. Like any vacation rental or hotel, remodels in the neighborhood can happen at any point. Fortunately we are our own structure and do not share any walls with anyone but noise in the forest for remodels can travel. If we do not inform you of any remodel noise in the neighborhood, we are unaware and would appreciate notice so we can properly inform future guests.
